The medical physics community in Canada was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our friend and colleague J.R. "Jack" Cunningham. Jack was a true pioneer in the field of medical physics. His contribution to medical physics was acknowledged by the various awards he received, including the William D. Coolidge Award, the IUPESM Award of Merit, the Peter Kirkby Memorial Medal, the Order of Canada and the COMP Gold Medal. Jack also served as the President of the International Organization for Medical Physics and the Chair of the Division of Medical and Biological Physics of the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP).
