The Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) virtually on July 16, 2020 resulting in the following changes to the COMP Board:
Horacio Patrocinio FCOMP FCCPM, who has been serving as COMP President for the past two years, has completed his term and will move into the role of Past President.
Dr. Wayne Beckham FCOMP FCCPM will serve as Board President for the next two years. Wayne brings considerable leadership experience to the role and is currently the Provincial Medical Physics Leader for BC Cancer. He also served as the President of the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP) in 2014-2015 and as Registrar of the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine from 2003 to 2009. Prior to moving into the role of President, Wayne served as Vice President of the COMP Board for two years. “I am honoured and delighted to be able to serve in this role for the next two years. It is a privilege to represent the diverse profession of medical physics in Canada and to continue to build meaningful partnerships both nationally and internationally”, said Dr. Beckham.
We are also pleased to welcome Dr. Boyd McCurdy FCOMP FCCPM to the COMP Board in the role of Vice-President. Boyd is Head of Radiation Oncology Physics at CancerCare Manitoba and has played a leadership role in COMP educational activities for a number of years. Boyd also served as Chief Examiner of Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine from 2012-2015. “I’m excited for the opportunity to work with our talented COMP members to continue to strengthen our profession in Canada”, said Dr. McCurdy.
