Deadline Extended: Volunteers Required: CAMRT Advanced Practice Certification Partnership

The Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) is looking for examiners for a new certification process for advanced practice radiation therapists   The CAMRT is looking for COMP-recommended physicists to work with the CAMRT Advanced Practice Radiation Therapists Certification Committee to aid in the development, review and administration of a case-based oral exam in the area of specialization of each candidate.

The COMP Science and Education committee is looking for interested volunteers to assist with this collaboration with the CAMRT. The volunteers must be certified by the CCPM or ABR in Radiation Oncology Physics and should have some experience in the education of Radiation Therapists. This could be either as an educator or as a surveyor of RT programs for the CMA Conjoint Accreditation Services.

The expected workload relates primarily to consultation on the preparation of appropriate questions and answers for assigned cases and participation on the examination panel. Estimates for time commitment are:

·         8 – 10 hours over a 3 month period in the winter (November – January) for consultation on exam content

·         A maximum of two 3-hour live, online oral examinations as part of a panel of experts and organizational moderators and observers (the spring of each year). 

·         Real-time debrief and scoring review at a maximum of 2 hours for each (immediately following the exam)

Total = a maximum of 20 hours (10 hours of preparation, 10 hours of implementation and evaluation).
