What is your most gratifying experience as a medical physicist? The most gratifying experience about being a medical physicist is to be in the frontline (sometimes even the leader!) in the implementation of new techniques and innovation in the field of cancer treatment. I am grateful for the overall feeling of being useful to society.
Who was your role model as an aspiring student and why? Growing up, my mom has always been my role model. In my darkest moments, studying physics and striving to achieve good grades, she would always tell me: “Never give up! All the effort you put in right now will be rewarded later on, you’ll see!” This used to make me angry because I wanted immediate reward; but now, I know that she was right.
What is your favourite food? I am a very active and healthy person, but I have to admit that my favorite food will always be poutine!
Who is your favourite action hero and why? I have always loved challenging myself; this must be why Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games is my favourite action hero! I really admire the way she deals with obstacles in her way, striving to survive, protecting her family, and never giving up. When I train for a race, running in the forest, I often think about her.
What was your second career choice, after Medical Physics? Back when I was studying in university, I did not know about medical physics. I had chosen the physics program because I needed a difficult challenge. At that time, I was thinking of becoming a science teacher.
